3.6.08 | Filter Magazine Undiscovered Artist of the Month

Yeah Sons and Daughters!

We've been selected as Filter Magazine's Undiscovered Artist of the Month! If Holler is the New World, then Filter is Chrstopher Colombus, which makes you our friends, families and supporters Leif Ericcsons for having found us first. Here's hoping this sort of increased exposure spreads the good word of Holler Nation!

You can read the article by clicking here: Filter Blog

Love,
us.

3.2.08 | Promise Braid - VIDEO

On a recent trip to Boston, we got the chance to perform, "Promise Braid," live, for the first time. It was the right space and right crowd for a different type of set and we really enjoyed it. We just posted a video of the performance. You can view it by clicking here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps3fXkG78Yk

Enjoy!

2.18.08 | Hello Holler faithful!

If it seems we're in live show hibernation, let it be known it's no account of idleness on our part. We've been busy at work on filming our promo short for the song Marylawn Hair. Our own Ryan C. and Scott are literally breathing, eating and dreaming it's direction and production- shower them with encouragement in binary hugs and kisses.

Playgrounds, subterranean animals, troops of dancing children, the innards of arcade games (wait, what did they say?) : patience, dears- you're in for a treat. With production ending early March, we're excited to share a visual interpretation of the music we've lived with for so long.

1.5.08 | We are NOT playing at Europa tonight

We have had several inquiries about an erroneous show listing on Ticketmaster and in several publications indicating Holler, Wild Rose! is playing tonight at Europa. This listing is inaccurate and did not come from Holler! or the label.

The band did play last night at the Luna Lounge in Williamsburg and it was so great to see so many of you – especially all the new faces. Thanks for taking the time to come out and listen for a little while.

Here’s hoping that 2008 continues to be a great one for everybody and thanks so much to all of you who helped us kick our year off right last night.

All the best,

11.12.07 | So we've had some very exciting things happening in the Holler! world lately, and there is way more to come in the very distant future.

We will be playing a Christmas benefit concert in West Orange New Jersey on December 22, 2007. Ian McGlynn, Ben and Vesper, along with a collective of close friends will be joining us that night in a beautiful cathedral to fill its chambers with songs of joy. It will be a beautiful and intimate evening, not only to celebrate Christmas, but to celebrate it the best way...by doing something special with friends and family. More info about this event and any other happenings can be found on the performances page.

We are slowly but surely building the ranks of our new street team "Holler Nation!" but we really need your help to make it happen.

Contact us if you would like to join "Holler Nation!", so that everyone, everywhere can hear the music of Holler, Wild Rose!

We also ask for everyone to please contact your local and/or favorite radio stations and DJ's to tell them that you want to hear Holler, Wild Rose! played on the air.

The more radio play that we get in different cities means the quicker we can come and visit the areas we have not played yet.

We hope to see you all soon wherever you may be and as always, we'll keep you posted

9.18.07 | Our Little Hymnal is complete and available now; we believe our labour is of love, and love is not in vain.

It is more than just a collection of songs to us. It is four and a half years of sowing and loving, losing and persevering, reaping and growing and hoping and rejoicing. It is the sunrise ushering the masses east into a great city towards some rich, unspoken promise. It is the cupped hands of grace overflowing with a cold morning wellwater. It is in one moment all the regret culled from an errant choice made in desperation and in haste; in the next, sweet release cascading from the merciful billows of some mackerel sky.

It is the melody of a train of captives, singing a chorus learned from the freebirds nesting in their high beamed rafters. It is the sound of a spirit sighing for the length of time it soujourned to realize it's own poverty, and retaking the road to forgiveness with a contrite heart. It is the bitter northwestern wind stirring up recollection for the balm of a midsummer night's bed, and the blooming stalks of chrysanthemum ascending the links of our old recess fence. Our Little Hymnal is the casting of a pale porch light upon all the scattered glass of the seemingly unbreakable, and the loosening of an inseparable braided cord.

Yet, Our Little Hymnal seeks the tender words of solace in its beloved sleep, and slumbers in the welcome knowledge of wintercolor dawn's embrace. It places its hope in the restoration of the dismantled, and its faith in the reconciliation of the forlorn. In all the toil and trial, we sing for a joy beyond circumstance.

Our Little Hymnal is now, yours.

5.11.07 | Holler, Wild Rose! will be performing Saturday May 12th in Hampton, Connecticut at "THE SPACE". Check out our performances page for details.

Our first trip to Canada was amazing! We had an unforgettable time, and met many great people.
Montreal was beautiful, amazing, and very inviting. We met possibly the best sound guy ever, and played one of our new favorite venues, Club Lambi.
We played some songs from the album at CKCU 93.1 FM in Ottawa....this involved fitting ourselves, our instruments,
and our gear into a 8'X8' room. Surprisingly it worked, and it worked well. (Charles, if your reading this, we never doubted you...never.) We all almost fit, untill we realized that we also had to fit Mike, and a Fender Rhodes, and pedals, and his amp (and chair)....needless to say, he enjoyed the session just fine......from the doorway.
We had a great time there and it really ended up sounding very good. Did i mention that we played on the 5th floor....and the only elevator in the building was broken....were still recovering from minor injuries.
You can download the studio session HERE on CKCU's website.
and/or

You can find photos of our trip up on our
myspace page.

We will be returning to Canada for round two in Toronto and it's surrounding area. The show dates and info will be posted within the next few days. An up-up-up state New York show is also in the works for that week
Well....were in the studio right now mixing the album...literally. In about 2 hours, the mix for "Our Little Hymnal" will be complete. It goes to begin mastering next week with Sarah at "The Lodge." As always, we'll keep you posted.

4.5.07 | This Saturday, April 7th, at 9pm, Backlight Records is hosting a benefit concert for NJ Habitat for Humanity at Maxwell's in Hoboken (1039 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ). Allie Moss, Ian McGlynn, Ingrid Michaelson and Holler, Wild Rose! will be returning to Maxwell's stage to help raise money and awareness about Habitat for Humanity.
All proceeds from the evening will be going to directly support New Jersey Habitat for Humanity house-building projects in Newark and Jersey City.

Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.

The organization has built more than 225,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
Details for the evening can be found at www.backlightrecords.com or www.maxwellsnj.com

2.22.07 | Well, we never thought that this day would come anytime soon...but we have our last show EVER at Sin'e on Saturday, March 17th. Sin'e is closing and is coming up on their last month or so of hosting shows, so please come out to Sin'e for one last really really really AWESOME night.
Over the many years of its existance, Sin'e and its management have been everything that a venue could be for small bands, big bands, bands in NYC as well as many bands just stopping through. With the closing of Sin'e, the population of hospitable, mid-size venues, is even lower. A moment of silence please.......

Holler, Wild Rose! (the song that is) received radio play on "The Post Modern Rock Show" on Portland radio station "KPSU." Check out their site here as they have some really great playlists up.

We are currently mixing the album with Dave at Real Recording NYC. Its sounding great, and we cant wait to share it with you.
In the next few months, we will be playing some dates in Virginia/DC/Maryland, Montreal, Ottawa, Vermont, and Northern New York State. These dates will be up on the performances page shortly......We'll keep ya posted

Holler!
